Spring Day in Rome

Today was quite warm after about a week of rain. As I was going up the street for some groceries I noticed an old long white Eldorado convertible, a gorgeous car! Wish I'd had my camera. At the same time, near the statue of St. Francis of Assissi, music was being played by a Jazz Band. There were various young ladies dancing around and it turns out it was advertisement for a Fashion Show coming up in Rome, Milan, etc. I need to start carrying my camera around with me!!!

I did take a photo of the most recent hat I made. It's kind of cute with a tiny flower on the top and one on the side.

Rainy Day Work

During the last four rainy days in Rome I finished a very pretty scarf and two hats! The pink one will go to cancer patients, the scarf and white hat with trim will be put away to be sold at the bazaar here in Rome in November!

After the Rains

Hi. We've just had four days of heavy rain and today is beautiful and springlike outside, although quite chilly. I took this picture off our balcony. We live in the heart of Rome and just next to the Basilica San Giovanni in Laterano. This beautiful cathedral is very popular with the tourists and is one of the prettier churches on the inside. Enjoy this masterpiece of architecture!

Finished Scarf and Hat Trim

Today I finished up my pale lilac scarf. I like it a lot! I also added a crocheted flower to the green hat and two small crocheted flowers to the lilac hat! I'm quite pleased with the results! It's a rainy day here in Rome, off and on, but now it is evening and there is a really beautiful sunset!

Counted Cross Stitch

I love working on counted cross stitch but had to let up on that for a time because I was having a problem with my eyes. Cataracts! Had those taken care of and now I don't have to wear glasses anymore. I used to wear them since the fifth grade. Anyway, I had a bunch of my needlework framed last September in Ohio at Hobby Lobby and they did a fantastic job! Here are some of my framed needlework!

Tamale Casserole

Here's my recipe for Tamale Casserole and a picture of the finished product! Since I live in Italy I had to improvise on a few things and ended up adding too much tomato. It should be a little less juicy. Next time I won't add so much tomato sauce!

Ash, my Cat!

I love genealogy! I've worked on my ancestors and my husband's finding distant relatives in England and Ireland. My cat, Ash, loves to hang around the computer while I am working. Here's Ash almost sleeping in my printer!

Caiazzo, Italy Escape

Since I live in Rome, Italy, we like to take outings and this is one we took last Sunday. Caiazzo is not far from Naples. Beautiful countryside and an interesting small town!

What to do with this scarf?

I'm trying to figure out if I should leave this lilac-colored scarf just the way it is or add some ribbons or something else to it, tied at various places to sort of dangle down. What do you think? I've also added some pictures of some other scarves and matching hats I've made. I'm not trying to do anything too fancy just wanted to make simple, pleasing, colorful hats and scarves!

Knit Hats

I've been knitting like mad, making scarves, hats and headbands. Thinking of selling them at a Thanksgiving Bazaar held in Rome, Italy by the United Nation's Women's Guild. I started out by making lots of hats, over 75, for cancer patients. I send them to my aunt and she donates them someplace around Monterey, California!

Thought I would take a chance and see if I can sell some to make back money for the wool I've been buying to make the donated hats.

I ordered some really pretty wool (90% wool and 10% silk) from Scotland. Very inexpensive and beautiful wool. Have been making some hats and scarves from that. I'm attaching some photos of some of the hats I made.
